Attending KOWINNER Vienna Convention
A total of 17 members, including KPLA members, attended the ‘2025 Vienna International KOWINNER Convention’ held in Vienna for 3 days from May 23rd.

It was jointly hosted by KOWIN Pacific LA and the Korean American Grassroots Conference.
Save the Date: Stateless Adoptee Citizenship Act Conference
KPLA’s conference on finding nationality for stateless adoptees was held at the Oxford Hotel on June 1 at 10:30 am. Attendees shared the most recent trends in adoptee citizenship legislation and specific actions we can take to pass the bill. There was no admission fee and a light lunch was provided.
General Assembly and 1st KPLA Korean Women Scholarship Award Ceremony
General Assembly and the 1st KOWIN PACIFIC LA (KPLA) Korean Women Scholarship Award Ceremony. Vice President Hea Ja Kim was elected as the 3rd president of KPLA at the general meeting on August 7th.

Western United States Conference San Francisco
The World Korean Women’s Network Western United States Conference was held at the Hilton San Francisco Airport Bayfront Hotel on May 21, 2023.
First regular monthly meeting and New Year’s ceremony
The first regular monthly meeting was held after the establishment of KPLA, marking the beginning of solidarity among members and official activities.
2022 21st World Korean Women’s Network
The event was held non-face-to-face online for two days from Wednesday, August 24, 2022 to Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Splas Resom, Yesan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do. Under the theme, “The era of digital transformation is opening with the power of Korean women around the world,” Korean women leaders at home and abroad and next-generation Korean women participated, with about 350 people from 22 countries and 10 people from Korea participating.

Final KPLA Bylaws Completed
The final version of the Articles of Incorporation was completed and the institutional foundation of the branch was completely overhauled.
KPLA Bylaws Approved
Through regular monthly meetings, the KPLA Articles of Incorporation were officially passed, establishing the organization’s operating principles and structure.
Formal composition of the Board of Directors
The composition of the chairman and elected/automatic directors was confirmed, and the organizational operation system was formalized.
Approved as a non-profit organization (IRS Tax ID issued)
It was officially approved as a non-profit organization by the U.S. IRS, securing legal and financial independence.
KPLA founding and inauguration ceremony
A founding ceremony and launch ceremony were held and the first executive team was officially launched. It was a symbolic event that laid the first foundation for the organization, centered around the first president, Myeong-Joo Kwon.
KOWIN Pacific LA established
On October 7, KOWIN Pacific LA was established to play a peaceful and expanded role by connecting the Pacific coast and the global network beyond Los Angeles, based on the existing activities of KOWIN LA. On October 25, with the approval of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and Family, KOWIN Pacific LA (KPLA) was officially established as a branch, and official activities began from this point.
DARE TO DREAM V ” Navigation the Path to Healing “
The 2020 pandemic has been called an unprecedentedly difficult time, further intensifying the burden the Korean immigrant community experiences in the process of adapting to a new culture and language, threatening the mental, psychological, and physical health of their families. Accordingly, in celebration of its 20th anniversary, KOWIN LA is holding an online conference that presents directions of hope such as healing, advocacy, and pathfinding to respond to the needs of the community, and to help participants gain new insights and move forward on the path to healing.
DARE TO DREAM III ” Reach One, Touch One”
Legal, political, adoptee organization leaders, and adoptee officials gathered together to hold a discussion forum to support the passage of a bill to provide nationality to stateless adoptees.
DARE TO DREAM II
This conference is the second event in the ‘Dare to Dream’ series that started in 2015, and at that time, professional women from various fields participated as mentors and served as an important platform to provide practical advice and networks to the next generation of women.
DARE TO DREAM
It was designed to present a vision to the next generation of 1.5 to 2 generation Korean female leaders who are aiming or are about to enter mainstream society, and to provide networking and mentoring to help them build successful careers. This event became the starting point for the next-generation development program, which later became the ‘Dare to Dream’ series, and served as a platform to help the next generation of Korean women establish their identity and grow into leaders in mainstream society.
Comfort Women Awareness Conference
This is an event led by KOWIN LA to spread correct historical awareness of the Japanese military comfort women issue. In addition to this conference, KOWIN LA used educational textbooks developed by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and Family to promote the international community’s efforts to resolve the comfort women issue, and actively participated in Glendale City’s ‘Comfort Women Day’ commemorative events and continued promotional activities.
2005 World Korean Women’s Network
An event was held for four days from July 5 to July 8, 2005 at the Ritz-Carlton Seoul under the theme of “Korean Women and Global Leadership.” About 120 people from 21 countries and 250 people from Korea participated to explore the direction of Korean women’s leadership in a global environment.
The main discussions focused on “Korean women and global leadership development strategies” and “Nurturing next-generation female leaders,” and shared practical measures and cooperative tasks to strengthen capabilities and foster next-generation leaders.
2004 World Korean Women’s Network
An event was held for four days from July 6 to July 9, 2004 at the Ritz-Carlton Seoul under the theme of “Korean Women’s Community.” 96 people from 26 overseas countries and 250 people from Korea participated, expanding the Korean women’s network and strengthening the foundation for cooperation.
The main agenda was “Korean Women’s Solidarity Plan” and “Northeast Asia’s Economic Hub and Korean Women,” which discussed international solidarity strategies and ways to expand the role and participation of Korean women in the Northeast Asian economic environment.
Regional Officer System Introduced
Held in Seoul from October 5 to 8, 2003 3rd World Korean Women’s Network During the competition period, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and Family (currently the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and Family) will hold a conference representing each region to revitalize the networks of Korean women living abroad. 1st regional officerIt began in earnest with the appointment of those involved.
2003 World Korean Women’s Network
For four days from October 5 to October 8, 2003, an event was held at the Renaissance Seoul Hotel under the theme “The Status and Role of Korean Women Around the World.” 97 people from 20 overseas countries and 250 people from Korea participated, allowing Korean women from all over the world to gather in one place to exchange and build a foundation for cooperation.
This event was held with “Korean women and mainstreaming” and “Korean women and children’s education” as the core agenda, sharing experiences from each country and discussing expansion of women’s leadership and education tasks for the next generation.
KOWIN LA Established
After the launch of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and Family in Korea in 2001, it was established for the purpose of developing human resources and strengthening solidarity among overseas Korean women. At that time, KOWIN LA ‘KOWIN Southern California’It was launched under the name and became the first overseas branch (No. 1 branch) under the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and Family.
